British Gas not impressing customers
In a recent survey one of the UK's best known energy suppliers, British Gas, has been voted the worst energy supplier in the UK. The survey was carried out by price comparison site, uswitch.com. The news comes despite the fact that British Gas was the first of the big energy suppliers to slash its gas and electricity prices twice since March of this years, saving some consumers over two hundred pounds a year on the cost of their energy bills.
British Gas has been in the news recently having been flooded with complaints from consumers. Complaints had rise from under ten thousand to over twenty thousand in the space of a year, with many consumers complaining about the pricing, the way that they estimate bills and over charge on direct debits, and the difficulties in getting to speak to a member of staff on the phone, with many people being left hanging on the phone for a long time.
However, despite being voted the worst energy supplier in the UK, the survey also showed that compared to six months ago the company's customer satisfaction rating had increased be eleven percent. Around fifty five percent of customers with British Gas now state that they are satisfied with the supplier, but only thirty four percent would actually recommend the supplier to a friend.
One uswitch official stated: "Suppliers are not pushing the right buttons for consumers. Even with prices coming down, only 45 per cent of customers think they are getting value for money - nowhere near enough,
Price cuts could have been a vote winner, but the small increase in customer satisfaction smacks of a missed opportunity."
