UK consumers want to save their money

According to the results of a recent survey consumers in the UK are increasingly keen to save money, with a large percentage of those surveyed expressing their wishes to try and save some money. It seems that people in the UK are becoming increasingly keen to get a tighter reign on their finances by looking at saving money rather than spending, and for those that wish to make the most of their savings there are some very good deals available on savings accounts that can really make their money work harder for them.

The information relating to the UK's appetite for saving was gathered as part of the Moneymood survey carried out by Legal and General. According to the results of the survey nearly sixty five percent of people that responded were interested in trying to save money rather than to spend, and this reflected a rise of around ten percent from 2006. According to the survey results only around twenty three percent were interested in spending their money, which was the lowest February figure in three years.

One consistent figure in the survey is the number of people that feel that they have enough money to try and save, which remains steady at around fifty eight percent. One spokesperson from Legal and General stated: "That's good news as it shows that the majority of households are in a position to save rather than struggling to make ends meet."

The benefits and interest rates on savings accounts that are available in the UK can vary quite dramatically, and in order to get the best deal on their savings and to help their money work harder for them, consumers in the UK are advised to compare deals and see which account is best suited to their needs as well as their pocket.
