Saving money on the cost of your holiday

With households finances as strained as they are many people may be worried about spending cash that they don’t have on an annual holiday this year, especially with such intense strain put on many household finances due to rising bills, high petrol and food costs, and rising living costs. However, at the same time the trials and tribulations that have faced most households this year most likely mean that you need a holiday more than ever, and for some people their annual break is their chance to recharge and maintain their health.

The good news is that by taking some simple steps you could still get to enjoy a break this year, and you could save yourself a fair amount of money compared to the amount that you usually spend. Okay, you may not end up in a five star resort in the Bahamas but there are plenty of great places to discover both in the UK and other parts of the world, and not all of them cost the earth. So, rather than giving up on the hope of a holiday this year it may be worth considering something a little different where you spend less or even get to enjoy a new experience.

You could, for example, try somewhere in the UK for your holiday, and try something like a camping or hiking holiday where you will not have to spend much on entertaining the kids and you can all enjoy getting fit and enjoying the fresh air. There are plenty of places that you can choose from such a cabin by the lakes. You won’t have to worry about paying for flights or travel insurance cover, and you can still enjoy spending quality time with your family and loved ones.

You may want to consider trying to get a late deal, and if you can book the time of work and are prepared t go just about anywhere then you could find that there are some great deals on offer for those able to travel at very short notice. Just book off some time and then take a look around a week earlier to see what is on offer. You can find these deals online as well as in travel agents, so there is plenty of choice and some great last minute places to go.

Make sure that you compare deals online in order to see what sorts of prices are available, as they can vary from one tour operator to another. Also bear in mind that whilst you can get some good deals on package holidays you may sometimes find that it is cheaper to book your hotel and flight separately depending on what deals are available. Have a look on some of the budget flight and hotel sites and see what is on offer.
