A number of major broadband providers have recently released their latest quarterly performance reports, with Virgin Media and BT having released their figures openly last week. The report shows that Virgin Media, which lost a lot of customers earlier this year due to loss of channels and decreasing customer service levels, has seen a growth of has seen growth of over 115,000 in the third quarter, which means that the number of broadband subscribers for Virgin has risen by nearly 46,000 in the third quarter, making the company the largest residential broadband provider in the country.

BT results were also issued earlier this week, and these figures showed that to the end of September for the third quarter figures the communications giant saw a steep rise in customers, with nearly 180,000 new subscribers to broadband, which takes the provider beyond the four million total it is currently enjoying. With an increasing number of providers coming on to the market it is only natural that many of the larger companies will lose their custom to other providers.

Recent figures show that the level of new broadband subscriptions has fallen a lot in the UK, and also has affected subscriptions for other parts of Europe.
