Internet proves useful for credit card customers
May 19, 2008
A recent report has highlighted how many credit card users and applicants in the UK have started to rely on the Internet in order to gain more information about credit card types and benefits, as well as to browse, compare, and apply for cards. It was also found that the majority of consumers that have a credit card prefer to run their credit card account online too, enjoying the convenience, ease, and speed that this offers.
Global Reviews recently carried out a survey into credit card use in the UK, and the results of the survey showed that most consumers prefer to use the Internet for all aspects of their credit card use, from finding a credit card to running their credit card account. Around 68% of credit card users said that they preferred to use the Internet to run their accounts, and 78% of consumers said that they preferred to use the Internet to browse and compare different deals.
Industry officials are concerned, however, that the quality of credit card websites can vary considerably from one site to another, and state that credit card companies should ensure that their sites are of good quality in order to benefit from this rising trend. One official said: “As household budgets tighten across the UK, many credit card customers will start to notice the rates they have been paying on their credit cards and begin to look around for better deals. With so many customers going online, providers wanting to attract these customers need to make sure that their website offers the information customers are looking for. All the online applications we looked at could be significantly improved. There is a lot more that providers can be doing to make it easier for their customers online.”
