Improved warranty cover offered by Nationwide

April 23, 2008

The Nationwide Building Society has recently announced some changes to the warranty cover that it offers on its credit cards, which official state will benefit consumers by offering them a greater level of protection on a larger number of products. The extended warranty insurance will be offered free of charge on its credit cards, and consumers will be able to enjoy the increased level of protection in a range of additional items.

Officials from the Nationwide have stated that amongst the additional items that will now be covered with the free extended warranty when purchased with the credit cards are DAB radios, MP3 and MP4 players, Freeview boxes, home cinema systems, DVDs with hard drives, camcorders with hard drives, and portable DVD players, all of which were not covered by the extended cover previously.

There were a number of other items that already enjoyed this extended protection and will continue to do so, including ovens, televisions, dishwasher, and washing machines. All consumers will need to do is to register the purchase that they make on the card, and they will then receive an additional one year warranty on top of the manufacturers standard warranty. This means that consumers may be able to enjoy three years cover on such products.

An official from the Nationwide stated: “Any Nationwide credit cardholder who uses their credit card to purchase an electrical item for use within their home can receive a year’s extended warranty cover free of charge - simply by registering it. We have recently improved the range of items that can be covered, to include newer technologies such IPODS, MP3 and MP4 players, Home Cinema Systems and Freeview boxes - which previously weren’t covered.”
