Consumers continue to go green with insurance

According to recent reports and figures more and more consumers in the UK are turning to green insurance cover in a bid to help the environment.
Officials state that green insurance is rising in popularity, and this is partly due to the rise in awareness over environmental issues amongst consumers in the UK. A spokesman for the Environmental Transport Association, David Douglas, stated that a rising number of consumers are turning to green car insurance policies.
Mr Douglas stated: “Since we’ve entered this green ‘bubble’ – it’s very high on the political agenda – demand is climbing.”
According to Mr Douglas consumers are also getting more savvy about green insurance, and are more readily able to tell which are genuine green insurance policies and companies and which ones just try to give the impression of being green.
There are some insurance companies that are offering financial incentives to those with energy efficient vehicles to help the environmental cause. This includes companies such as More Than and Swift Cover. Green car insurance policies are available through the Cooperative Insurance Services. However, the cost of green insurance cover may be more expensive than standard insurance cover, and this means that although popularity of this type of cover is on the rise there are many that may not be able to afford it.
Those looking to aid the environment by switching to green insurance should do some research to compare the cost of insurance policies. This can be done easily and quickly online, and could help environmentally conscious drivers to get cheaper green cover and help the environment.
