Norwich Union considered worst insurer for motorists

A recent survey has revealed that Norwich Union, one of the UK’s best known insurance companies, is actually considered the worst insurance choice for motorists in the UK.

The company is well known for its catchphrase ‘Let us quote you happy’, which is run in its advertisements. However, the results of the recent survey indicate that the insurer has not been quoting too many motorists happy at all, leaving them disgruntled and out of pocket.

The survey reviewed customers satisfaction for forty five insurance companies in the UK, and having received low points for customer service as well as on value for money Norwich Union came last out of all those companies that were included in the survey.

Thirty thousand Auto Express readers were surveyed to compile the results. The insurance company that came top, for the second year in a row, was NFU Mutual.

According to the result of the survey, Norwich Union operates foreign call centres where the communication is poor. The lack of flexibility in quotes was also mentioned, as was the poor value for money on car insurance policies.

This is despite the millions of pounds that the insurance company ploughs into advertising every year in order to promote value for money and high customers service levels.

One spokesman for the company stated: ‘Independent customer research has shown there is little difference in the quality of service offered from our Indian call centers to our UK ones.’

However, based on the opinions of thirty thousand motorists voting on forty five insurance companies this is not the case. This is the second year that the survey has been run and compiled by specialist motoring magazine Auto Trader.
